“Education, Health and Water should be free for all”.

This dictum of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba is manifested in the form of Medical Mission, Education Mission and Water Mission. All these projects were undertaken on gigantic proportions and were successfully executed. Today, these monumental projects reverberate with Bhagawan’s message that every citizen should have access to Health, Education and Water and it should be completely de-commercialized. They also send message that free healthcare, free education and free supply of drinking water of the highest standards is possible and worthy of emulation.

The Medical Mission of Bhagawan started with a simple request by His Mother. She said that the people in their village do not have access to Medical facilities and they have to travel far to get medical attention. She requested Bhagawan to establish a small facility wherein villagers would get immediate medical aid and relief. Bhagawan fulfilled His Mother’s request and established the General Hospital in Puttaparthi in the year 1956. This was followed by another General Hospital in Whitefield, Bangalore in 1976. Then came the Super Specialty Hospitals in Puttaparthi, Anantapur in 1991 and in Whitefield, Bangalore in 2001. The latest addition is the Sri Sathya Sai Mobile Hospital in 2006.

Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, Whitefield, a unit of Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust (Medical Division) was started in the year 2001. A 333 bedded tertiary care hospital, it caters to the Medical and Surgical needs of Cardiac and Neuro Specialties. The Hospital is rendering yeoman service to mankind by providing quality tertiary care free of cost to all the patients who arrive at its doorstep. A strong belief in integrated approach to health, the Hospital aims to effect cure in Body, Mind and Spirit.

For the Professionals, the Institute provides a peaceful, serene, spiritually charged environment bereft of any kind of stress or pressure. They are also immensely benefited by the huge Clinical volume that the hospital generates.

To train future Doctors, Nurses and Technicians, Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences has academic programs that are contemporary and provide exposure to a vista of knowledge. The patient Diaspora extends all over the subcontinent and covers almost every clinical condition in the book, enough to satisfy an interested and willing mind’s quest for knowledge.
