Department of Anaesthesiology and Critical Care

The Department of Anesthesiology & Critical Care medicine consists of Cardiac Anesthesia service, Neuro Anesthesia service, Critical Care service and anesthesia for day care procedures (both surgical and interventional procedures).

The service covers 8 Operation theaters, 3 Catheterization labs (2 Cardiac Cathlab & 1 Neuro cathlab) and 6 Intensive care units. The anesthesia for surgeries in both the Cardiac and Neuro is about 3000 per year. There is continuous and uninterrupted service provided by the anesthesia department with a postgraduate and consultant on duty. They also cater to emergencies in casualty as and when required.

The Department imparts postgraduate training (DNB) and conducts continuing medical education programs. The Anesthesia program attracts large number of overseas visiting faculties from USA, Australia, and UK. The Department also undertake research activities, scientific paper presentation at national conferences. The faculty and post-graduates regularly take classes and also give clinical training to students of B.Sc nursing, B.Sc, Anesthesia Technology and also nursing staff.

Critical care medicine Update -2010:
The conference on Critical Care Medicine Update 2010 was held on 29th and 30th of May at SSSIHMS Whitefield, Bangalore. 18 Faculty and around 150 delegates attended the conference. The venue was the new conference hall on the ground floor at SSSIHMS Whitefield. Click here for more
