Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery

The department of Cardio-Thoracic and Vascular Surgery at Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, Whitefield, specializes in the surgical treatment of congenital and acquired disorders affecting the heart, pericardium, mediastinum, lungs and the great vessels.

The Department performs a unique mix of cardiac surgery, with a third of the cases being paediatric, a third being valvular and the remaining being coronary revascularizations. This case mix is the most sought after for a competent training program. The department performs in excess of 1400 major cardiac surgical procedures annually.

To deliver patient care at international standards, the department is equipped with state-of-art infrastructure that includes 4 dedicated operation theatres, 38 bedded Intensive Care Unit and 50 bedded Pre and Post-operative Wards.
The complement of supportive services with 2 cardiac cath labs , CCU, an in-house blood bank and a full complement of Radio-diagnostic and imaging services.
