TREE PLANTING PROGRAMME @ SSSIHMS-WHITEFIELD
The Hospital Campus has a total tree population of almost 300, of around 35 species. With a view to improve the tree cover on the campus, which will have numerous undeniable benefits, a tree planting programme has been conceived, coinciding with Bhagawan’s 85th Year of Advent, and the 63rd Independence Day of India.
Under this programme, 85 saplings of approximately 10-15 different species are proposed to be planted at the following places in the Residential Campus.
- Behind the B & C Block Car Park. Approx. no. of trees: 45
- Between the C & D Blocks. Approx. no. of trees: 20
- Next to Nursing Students’ Hostel. Approx. no. of trees: 20
Total: 85
Care has been taken to ensure that the sites selected do not have any construction planned in the long-term (next 50 years), and also that the type of trees chosen are suitable to the site, given their size & shape after they mature.
All staff and their families are requested to participate in the tree-planting programme, and utilize the opportunity to take an active part in caring for the planet. It is also urged that the families continue to take care to their saplings till they take firm hold in the soil, and settle down in their new homes.
The programme will commence immediately after the Flag Hoisting Programme on 15-Aug-10, between 8:30 am & 10:30 am.
The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The next best time is now.
